TAVATIRU SRI SWAMI MATHAVANANDHA - MJT

When Swami Mathavanandha was born, he was known to be a gifted child who will become a great person in his later years.

At his age of 5, through a light lord Shiva appeared before him and iniciated him into sanyasin by eriting ‘Mantra’ on his tongue with Tulasi (Holy Basil). Later, Goddess Parashakti (The Mother of Universe) come in a form of a lady to to his house and took him with her.

Then, the Goddess guided Sri Swami Mathavanandha to seek Swami Ramdass’s ashram and accepted him as Guru. Since then, Swami Mathavanandha’s life changed to meditation and tapas.

At ashram, Swami Ramdass will give talk to his disciples about the great things of Bhagawan Sri Ramana Maharishi’s teachings. Listening to this Swami Sorupanandha who was a discipline of Swami Ramdass, went to see Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi. Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi then iniciated Swami Sorupanandha through observation throught his eyes.

After return, Swami Sorupanandha with permission of Sivanantha Swami set up an ashram in Illayangkudi Ashram. Once Swami Sorupanandha asked Swami Mathavanandha to go out and start preaching to extend his knowledge in worldly matters.

Swami Mathavanandha refuses to go and says he prefers to stay in ashram and do his service. Listening to this Swami Sorupanandha with anger asked Swami Mathavanandha to leave as he failed listening to his command.

With that Swami Mathavanandha left Illayangkudi Ashram making a promise that he will only return to see His Guruji in his last days. It was later known to him the real intention of Swami Sorupanandha to send him out was for his own good. Swami Mathavanandha then left the ashram and went to Shiva Temple then to Amma Chellamah’s house.

Then after sometime with all the blessings, Swami Mathavanandha started his journey to accomplish his service . He travelled to Singapore and Malaysia to educate people with his teachings. In later years, Swami Mathavanandha become well known for his preaching. Although in his early days he struggled but in later years it proves that all his efforts was blessed by God.

The last year of his, Swami Mathavanandha went back to Illayangkudi to raise fund to build Samadhi for his Guruji. Swami Matahavanandha spend most of his time in silence. He started to build a Shiva Temple in Madurai. Swami Mathavanandha travelled a lot and was well known for his teachings. He went Maha Samadhi on 18th August 1998.
