TAVATIRU SRI SWAMI SORUPANANDHA

History
He was born in Ariyandipuram district 1897 Dec 30 as second child. He was named as Rangasamy by his parents. He was working as office boy in Ilayangudi town during young age.
 
When his spiritual interest increases he joins Sivanantha Ashram at Ilayangudi. He learns Vedas and his spiritual journey continue urge. During this period he meets Matahava Swami whom also joins to serve the Ashram. During in Ashram he got chance to visit Myanmar.
 
During in the ashram he always hears his master Ramdas Swami talking about Ramana Maharishi and wonderful spiritual journey at Thiru Annamalai. Therefore his interest to meet Ramana Maharishi blossom in his mine. One day with his master’s permission his decided to travel to Thiru Annnamalai to meet Ramana Maharishi. He brings Mathava Swami with him to get bless from Ramana Maharishi.
 
He was initiate by Ramana Maharishi and bless to Mathava Swami. From the day his spiritual journey continue thrive and he get permission to exit Sivanantha Ashram to serve local community and religious matter. He also request his master to permit him to bring Mathava Swami Along.
 
He started his ashram at Ilayangudi and starts his spiritual journey with serving local community and also giving religious speech at surrounding villages. One day during his walk he was attracted to a sound of Aum at Ilayanggudi   Lake and start observing the sound. He found the sound wake from the dried lake. He quickly start dig at respective spot and he found Shiva Lingham was buried there. He quickly ask Mathava Swami to call the village leaders to bring the Shiva Lingham raise fund to build the temple.
 
Day by day he was known as Sorupaananda Maharishi due to his kind service to the community. In 1957 he reaches Mahasadhi at Ilayanggudi.
